The Childline Project
The school has been undertaking field action projects, which have, in general, focussed particularly on the development of the disadvantaged sections of the society. Some field action projects are laboratories for testing new approaches of social service delivery and strategies of intervention. These contribute to the generation of knowledge for teaching in the classrooms and allow testing of theories in field practice.
Childline india foundation, started in 1996, as a progect of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Bombay, aimed at alleviating the problems of street children. After beiing alloted the helpline 1098, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Governtment of India, its spread to many major cities of India.
Indore launched the Childline Project on 1 st January 2001, with the Joint collaboration of Indore School of Social Work (Nodal Agency) and Lok Biradari Trust (Collaborative Agency), thanks to the efforts of the then Principal of Indore School of Social Work, Late Dr. W.S.K. Phillips and Dr. Swaraj Puri, Additional Director General - Intelligence.
Childline provides 24 hours service to children who are in distress and who need immediate help. With the help of other NGOs, working with children, Childline works towards building a Child ' friendly Society. Indore is the 17th city of the 48 cities in India which have implemented this project.
The Nodal Agency( Indore School of Social Work) is headed by the Director, a faculty-in-charge and City Co-ordinator who look after the day to day administration along with the other Staff of Lok Biradari Trust. |
